Chassagne-Montrachet is located on a 305-hectare vineyard at an altitude of 220-325 meters. It basks on a rocky, limestone-rich hillside in the south of the Côte de Beaune that varies from marl to sand, depending on the exact location. The area is bordered by marble quarries that form a rocky border in the soil.
